Seven Days to Stand

Nearly a week ago (last Thursday) it occurred to me that I was having this foot surgery on the upcoming Thursday (9/12) and that once I had this surgery, I wouldn't be able to walk for weeks.  The realization made me panic.  Sure, I'm pretty lazy, but walking is something I have done for quite an exceptional amount of my life and losing that ability for an unknown amount of time was a very scary thought.
I decided that morning that I was going to make the most of my feet and legs in the week leading up to my surgery, to make them so tired and worn out that the only thing to remedy severe legs cramps would be to sit, and lay down for the next week.  And that's exactly what I've been doing.
On Thursday morning, I went for a walk, I used an elliptical and when it was time for work, I parked as far away as I could.  This day wasn't exactly what I was expecting and I really wanted to my legs good and worn out.
So on Friday, my friend and I went to a Mumford and Sons concert called Gentlemen of the Road in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  Without knowing, we parked our car about a mile and a half (or at least it felt like that) from the camping entrance.  We then carried, pulled, and dragged a 40 lb tent and a 50 lb ice chest along with the rest of our gear, to an open area and set up our tent.  My legs were tired, but this was just the beginning.  We went to the concert and stood for three hours.  When it was over, we went into town and walked all around, inclines, alleys, and bars.
The next morning was rough, I had a rude awakening to my alarm clock at 5 am.  Guess who works at 7:30 on Saturdays? This girl.  Yes, I had to trudge back to my car, though this time with sore muscles that could only be produced from, drinking, dancing, and sleeping in the dirt.  What a rough walk that turned out to be.  I proceeded to work for six long hours.  When that was over I hesitated going back for more walking, and standing and sweating, but somehow, I convinced myself that I had to. (Mainly because my friend would otherwise be trapped) I made it back in all my sweaty and sore glory and it only got harder, and worse.  It was hotter, things seemed farther, there was more time to spend waiting. and standing. and waiting. and standing. and sweating. and shaking. knees buckling.  I felt awful. I was listening to one of my favs, The Alabama Shakes and I wanted to leave.  I wanted a chair and a shower and a bed.  The Shakes finished their set and we stood and stood and stood, sweating the whole time waiting and waiting for the glory of four attractive Brits to hit the stage.  They finally did and relief flowed through my body a distraction despite my better and efforts, and their talents, I still felt the pains, but it was well worth it for the experience.
After another night in the dirt, we rose early to pack our camp site and head back home.  Another daunting and heavy journey.  Relief hit us as we pulled into Sonic for a drink and a bite to eat.  We were so exhausted and sore and dirty.  The rest of that day is a blur to me honestly but I do remember my dad dragging me into the pool, pushing for me to not give up in my fight to stand and be active.  I somehow made it through the pool experience without drowning and slept soundly that night.
The next day was Monday, my least favorite of the week.  I worked for 8 hours which is a chore in itself and I even worked out when I got home, despite the hardships of ragweed in my sinuses.
Today, now Tuesday, I am nearly done with my week of standing, with 4 hours, of work, and 7 hours of school standing in my way, I still intend to perform three activities later tonight.
If this week has taught me anything, Its that you need to live life to the fullest and cherish everything you have, because you never know when you're going to lose something or someone.
Though I had a very difficult weekend, it will take place in my memory, as a great experience and one I will never forget.

Life Update

Hey Kiddos!

Welcome to another life update blog, which seems to be all this blog has turned into!  Oh well!

Since I've been away, I have been to Aruba, been stung by jelly fish, watched my mom turn 50 and started another semester of school.  Needless to say, I have been living quite a lot away from my computer!  I even got a bit of color on my skin!  I have graduated from pale to second from pale in both foundation and powder, I'm sure this surge in pigmentation won't last long, but currently, I am extremely impressed with myself.

Just today I had a thrilling decision made in my life, my best friend, Abby showed interest in blogging, I told her I had recently claimed some new domain real estate on blogger and she jumped at the chance to join and I couldn't be more excited!  So we will share "For the Love of Local" and "Everything that Glitters"  I could not be more excited about it!

So head on over to both new blogs we won't disappoint!

Life Update

Hey Guys!

This is a long overdue update blog!

So hello, I know this blog has been full of several empty promises, and for that, I am truly sorry for anyone (if anyone) that was upset by my hiatus.
Believe it or not, but I'm a human, despite my inability to decipher captchas on the internet.

Side note, if you DO understand this, you're probably an alien.  And if you're an alien, cool, wanna be friends?
I'm sure there are however humans out there that are saying "Kate, I'm not an alien and I totally understand that"  well congratulations, seemly human life form, as far as I know, that classifies you as a super human, so good for you.  Some of us (me) are not that high functioning, its hard enough for me to put my pants on one leg at a time. Ha ha ha I don't wear pants.

Well despite that tangent, I am determined to get back on track!  I am a human, which means, I can't sit in front of this computer and amuse you for every second of everyday.  Unless, of course, you read my archived blogs over and over again, in which case, what? why? go outside, smell a flower, get off you computer crazy!
Ok serious time, since we last talked....since I last wrote in your general direction, I have started working a full time job, that monopolizes more of my time that I am happy to think about.  I am also still in college.  So lets add this up:
over 45 hours of work a week
about 30 hours spent on homework a week
so right there we have 75 hours out of 168 in the week, leaving only 93 which sounds like a lot right?
well let be generous and take out 35 hours for sleeping, 15 for playing mine craft because I'm THAT kind of nerd and honestly, probably 5 if not more for watching youtube videos not to mention the time I spend THINKING about doing things, thats a solid 30 hours a week (the time I would be sleeping if I wasn't an insomniac.  And then 8 hours that I dedicate to showers, baths, and primping.
Whats that? I ran out of time?
What's also that? I'm horrible at managing time?
You are absolutely right about that.  Rearrange my priorities? Nah, I'd rather not.  But I will take twnety minutes, from Minecraft, youtube, primping, homework, and sleep in order to write on both of my blogs every week
WHAT? Another blog? Yep.  You could say its the only reason I'm writing this post, and you would be right.
Don't even worry about it, I have already acknowledged my bad track record on the new blog, so go there to read it and subscribe!  It should be really cool and I'm super excited about it!!
Guys.  I'm gonna try my hardest ok? Ok.
I was gonna write more but my mac's about to die and I have an hour before work and nothing to do but check out the new blog: keepitlocalokc.blogspot.com
Love you guys! New blog next week! Stay awesome!

New fun and healthy snack!!

Hey lovelies!!! Twice in one day! Woo! Go me.

So announcement: I work as a weight loss specialist. And I'm always looking for fun, healthy snacks and meals and I'm trying to create some of my own to share with people! Today I came up with a really fun and filling snack that I want to share with you!

Rice cakes with peanut butter and trail mix!
For the base, I used two plain, sodium free and gluten free rice cakes (brand: mothers)
I then made my own peanut butter with the ever easy PB2 powder and water and spread two tablespoons evenly over the two cakes. I then took some backcountry trail mix from whole foods and sprinkles a serving (1/4 cup) over the top.
This snack was delicious!
It's low sodium, low fat, low calorie and high protein! Perfect for mid afternoon hunger strikes!
I hope you try this out for yourself! It's awesome! More fun recipes to come! :)

Can I do this? Pretty sure I just did!

Hello beautiful lovelies!!
Oh how I've missed you friends!
Remember that one time when I said I would post weekly?
This is me absolutely failing at that.
:)
Still love me? Good.
Go here. Live it. Love it. Buy stuff! :)

A Little Bit of Love Goes a Long Way

From reading my blog I'm sure most of you have found that I am not an extremely serious person.  If something can be fun, I would rather take the fun route.  But certain things exist in our society that have a severe depletion of "fun", and all surrounding synonyms.
War, poverty, sickness, and sadly so many other categories are plagued by this deficit.  Its hard to have any effect on such huge, world wide problems. And its hard to sit back while people are suffering through them.  But sometimes, just sometimes, there is something we can do to help.
It may be a donation, an event, or even just a letter of support.
This past weekend I was lucky enough to participate in a fundraising event that's goals were not only to raise money but also to bring in a wave of fun to the people that need it most in my community.  The Kids.
Soonerathon was the event I participated in along with a couple hundred of my closest friends.  It was an event that's goal was to raise over 100,000 dollars for the OU Children's Hospital, taking the form of a 12 hour dance marathon in which we were required to stay on our feet and shake it for the kids, and with the kids, the very patients we were raising money for.
Being around these children that were fighting an array of diseases was way more than just inspiring, it was such an amazing experience that I'm actually at a loss for words.
Good thing I have pictures, I hear those are worth a thousand.

As you can see, even dealing with the struggles of sickness, they are able to keep these extremely positive, happy, and fun demeanors, something I can strive to always have.
One of the great joys of doing good works, is doing them with the people that you love.  And I certainly experienced that.  I've heard that the friends you make in college, are the friends you keep for life, and based on the friends I've made in college, I certainly hope thats true.  I have never known more selfless, and giving people than my closest friends.  Doing this event with them meant more than I will ever be able to admit.  Sharing the love, the overwhelming happiness and this great memory will bond us forever, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Overall the event was a huge success in so many ways, and I was so happy to be a part of it.  Thank you to the sponsors, the staff, the coordinators, the donators, the dancers, the families, and of course, the kids.  By the end of the night, the fundraising total had an unreal number:

196,034.62 dollars.  Raised by normal students with a dream to bring the fun and happiness and needed research and funding to the deserving youths of our community.

This is a memory I will never forget and I intend to keep in the forefront of my mind so that my entire life is driven by hope and success of this event.

I hope you all strive to find the love and fun where it normally wouldn't be found, or where it isn't easy to have it.  Every little bit can really go a long way.
I love you all.  Thank you for staying with me through my hiatus and still checking my blog, your traffic to this blog did not go unnoticed and it will be rewarded, I intend to post at least one blog a week, if not more.   I think this is a reasonable goal to start out with and I will strive to accomplish it!

I hope all of you are doing well <3

Lies of Omission

I mean come on, technically we have all been guilty of omitting something for the better of the majority.  Sometimes, you want to spare feelings, prevent drama, or even just keep a little mystery in your life.
But what about those things that could be harmful to other people?  For me at least, thats a no brainer, you tell them.  Say you have pink eye, simple enough, super annoying but not too hard to handle.  If I had pink eye and had been exposed to my friends or strangers, I would immediately tell those certain people that needed to know.  Sure I would be embarrassed that I had contracted such a thing but in that circumstance, I would feel worse if that thing I had was spread to my friends and I hadn't even told them about it.  How scary would that be?  To just have something wrong with you but not know what it was or where you got it from?
That would be bad kids, very bad and highly irresponsible.
So I am here to tell you this: If there is something wrong with you that is contagious.  TELL PEOPLE. If you don't you're being an inconsiderate asshole.  Sorry, but it's true.
It may be a simple as pink eye, or as severe as a transmittable disease
Be honest, be upfront, and don't be embarrassed.  It will be better for everyone if you just get it out of the way.

Obviously this is something in some form or another that I am currently experiencing, I will not go into details but something like the above is currently having a large effect on my life,  and I do not like it.

I hope you are all having spectacular weeks and that if you are in school you are nearing the end and are about to move on!  Yay.

Have a super lovely day!

Musings from the Insomniac

Superlatives.  I never realized just how often I use them.  "Oh this is the funniest show ever"  Do you know how many shows I've dubbed to be "the funniest ever"?  No?  Well neither do I.  But, I can tell you this, when I was just watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother, for about the fifth time, I uttered that exact phrase.  However I bet that I've said that in numerous shows.  When I was younger it would have been in reference to Gilmore Girls, where I learned just how funny sarcasm could be.  Later on it could have been Friends, and several others, but today it's HIMYM (the new Friends), tomorrow it will probably be New Girl.  Which brings me to this question:  How reliable am I?  My opinions change daily, though this is based on something minute and unimportant as television, I'm sure I stick to character in other areas, how soon will it be until I say speak the words "greatest movie ever" or "Best food I've ever had"? Oh dear.  I believe I've said these phrases even more than the former.  Are superlatives ruining my life?  Maybe.  But it could also be the lack of sleep I've had over the past seven days (Insomnia one week anniversary!!)

I hope that where ever you are, you stick to your guns, that you aren't a superlative whore like I've found myself to be.  I also really hope you've all been getting more sleep than I have, and I hope you're having a wonderful week

Because I missed it last week based on my feelings of being lazy on holidays, let me say this now.  I am thankful for the life I lead, for the opportunities that are set before me, though I on the occasion make light of them.  I am thankful for my family close-knit and extended, these are the people that will be with me till the end....whether they like it or not.  I am also thankful for the people I choose to surround myself with, pleased with how new relationships have begun and grown and even happier with those I've been able to retain.  I love you all, thank you for your support.

FAME

I love all of you, lets be lovers, you're one step closer to being famous.
I don't know what it is about this specific chair in this specific lecture hall, but it seems to grant me a great amount of productivity.  But I have decided not to look this gift horse in the mouth, if you will.....I've never understood that phrase but whatever.
OMG the prof just said "people consider this a sweet chapter because we talk about sugars" Oh O chem II prof, thank you for keeping things fresh, you go bro, you go.
This week I have once again been working on my photography project that seems never ending, and attempting, and I use that word extremely lightly, to start a youtube channel.  The largest problem with my start is, I'm not fucking funny at all.  Like really?! As soon as I turn on the camera, I become this loud, crazy person who has absolutely no purpose on the planet, let alone on youtube. Nonetheless, I will continue my endeavors and practicing being on camera for the greater good, and all my fans :)
I had something else to say......I can't remember......
This week in my life, I have been talking to my sister a lot about what it takes to be truly famous; one of my favorite discussions we had, was what it takes to be a famous person in the public eye.  We concluded that to go out in public, the general consensus of people with fame is that if they cover their eyes with sunglasses and look down, they must be a famous person hiding, and trying to be normal.  But really, aside from that old song, who wears their sunglasses inside? Very few people, you're either hungover, or ridiculously famous.  Those are the only possibilities.  Really.  So.  I have decided to run an experiment, when I go to places that are trendy and popular, I will put on my shades and perhaps a hat or sweater and see just what types of attention are granted to me.
Hopefully, this will prove to be an entertaining experiment in which I give out autographs and take pictures with people.  I really want to see how far I can take this like, if people come up to me and I ask "whats your favorite song of mine?"  I wonder what they would say.  Extremely excited to share the results with you my lovers.

Poem for the sake of a poetry

A good friend is hard to find
They're someone who keeps you on their mind
They're always there whenever you ask,
especially when you need a sip of their flask
They're the people you need to keep you check,
the person you go to when you want to get wrecked

You love them with all of your heart,
Even when beside you, they fart (Nina <3)
This poem should not be taken seriously,
In fact it solely exists because I feel Silly :)

Im feeling 22

Hi my lovely love love loves of my life love!

How are we doing on this lovely November? I hope very well.
Well loves, I am now 22 which is pretty super.  I just got back from Las Vegas and needless to say, it was pretty unreal, in the best ways possible!  There was gambling to do, shows to see, shopping to be done, and I did it all friends, and potentially more because did I mention the hard hours I put in to dancing my ass off at XS and Tryst?  Because I did.  It was so amazing, and thanks to my father, I was a VIP guest of the hotel and I got to skip around and do what ever I want all of the amazing rolled into two days was almost too much to handle.  Ok, all excitement and bragging aside, I'm 22 now, far more mature than 21, and yet, I feel no legitimate change in my personality.  (Emo?) Nah, not really.  Just that I kind expected to feel a little different, and I don't, but I suppose that even still, someday I will feel that change.  Good things come to those who wait, that's what they say right?
Anyway, I hope you all are doing well, my life has been one hot mess after another, I broke my foot in some drunken crazy mess, I chopped off the tip of my thumb cooking for my lovely friends, and last weekend, I fell off of a curb, scraped my knee, and bruised my other foot! :(
Needless to say, hot mess.  Another new and exciting venture in my life, is all of the work I have been putting into my photography!
As most of you should know, I am starting a venture, a photo shoot that is my interpretation of Alice in Wonderland, the shoot takes place in February and right now I am working on costumes and concept!
I am very happy to say the entire shoot has already been casted!  I will post the cast list in my next post for those who are interested!
I have also been doing informal shoots over the weekends to clear my mind and to keep myself somewhat sane.  Sometime this week, I will be posting those to my other website: www.kathrynbphotography.com go ahead and check it out if you have nothing to do! :)
I hope you all are having incredible Novembers and hopefully I will get my act together and start posting on here more frequently!

As always, Have a lovely day! :)

Lost, again. aka the Abby Castro Show

Don't ask me how or why friends, but once again, I find myself in the belly of the Organic Chem II lecture hall.  There's a test coming up so its time to knuckle down and get into chemistry gear.  I am once again questioning my future. What if I actually knew what all those funky shapes the professor is drawing are?  I could be a fucking doctor!  I could be a Grey's Anatomy doctor!  I could be ANYTHING.  But lets get real people.  Me? A Doctor? Its laughable. Can you imagine me delivering news to a patient?  I have no concept of bedside manner, I'd be out of a job as soon as I nervously giggled through telling someone they have a tumor.  Yep.  I'm that doctor.
Or better yet, I could be a physicist.  Do I even need to elaborate on this to get a laugh out of you? Yea, didn't think so.
Even still!  I could be an engineer!  I could make tons of really cool things, like the revolving closet from Clueless, or and automatic outfit arranger!  Yep, that's all I would do.
That one wasn't as funny, oh well.
The bottom line is, my desires really don't match up with the depth and intellectual demands that are present in this specific major.  And thats ok!  Where my dear friend Abby could become a surgeon, I could become an author, a photographer, an english teacher, a grant writer, there are so many possibilities, I chose this major because I knew that I would NEED to have several options as to what I could do in the future.  I cannot be satisfied with settling down with one job for the rest of my life.

On a completely unrelated note, I am already getting stressed out about my photo shoot in the near future, if anyone would like to help me on concept and costume ideas, they would be greatly appreciated!  It just helps me to talk out my ideas and I love getting suggestions, its a modern day rendition of Alice in Wonderland, called Alice in my land.  Any suggestions at all are greatly appreciated!

Stalkers

Lets be real.  In one way or another, everyone has one, and in turn, everyone is one.  I showed that first line to three of my friends, and everyone nodded in agreement.  This is our society, we are a community of creepy individuals, with our facebooks, twitters, smart phones, you name it, (I never go anywhere without at least two pieces of high-tech gadgetry) we are so "connected" but in reality, all I feel is a dramatic lack of connection.  No, this isn't an emo "no one understands me" kind of moment, merely an observation.  Take this morning for instance, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I meet with the greatest group of people on campus, MGoC, you've probably heard of us, we're big in the union.  As I was saying, I met with my MGoC'ers and immediately, three out of the four of us pulled out our computers and two of us pulled in one headphone and proceeded to listen to music, get on Facebook, googling, and pinning things.  And this isn't an attack by any means, I was most certainly one of those people both on their computer and listening to music.  Its just an observation, when did this happen?  When did we become these people who cant sit still without an IV of internet and a double dose of smart phone?  And this is something I really don't have an answer to, I don't even know if its necessarily a bad thing, our generation grew up with this awesome internet thing, and we, like it have grown bigger and stronger.  To go completely out of my comfort zone and into the realms of science, a symbiotic relationship, if you will, we need each other do thrive.  At least, thats how I feel especially after my google drought.
I think I've come to a pleasing place mentally and will close this blog with a series of boop.  I realize that the title really doesn't reflect the blog at all anymore but oh well, not changing it.

BOOPS!!!

The End of an Era

I know what you're thinking, two blogs, one day, it must be the apocalypse.  Close.  Now shut up and sit down, the grown ups are talking.
Today marks the end of an era.  In less that 12 hours, my wisdom will be extracted from me.  It will be goodbye brilliance and wisdom, and hello mashed potatoes and ice cream (not together)
I am home from my collegiate hideaway and let me tell you, I am very ready to go back.  You see, in Norman, I live by myself, which means, no one comments if I wear sweatpants all day, no one scoffs if I take a 4pm nap, and no one complains if I just want to eat peanut butter for dinner.  Here there is a strict set of social rules that I essentially threw out the window in my apartment.  And I'm not saying that rules are bad, because they aren't of course, just that it will take some getting use to.
I thought I would sit down at my computer and spout off loquacious wisdom to you readers of mine and yet, theres nothing in my head but dread and fear.  So, for the second time today, this is where I leave you, I hope those of you with your wisdom intact, head for the hills so no one can take it from you, and those who are without wisdom, like I soon will be.....maybe we can like start a support group of something?  Yes, that sounds lovely.

Have a nice night you lovelies, if you're in Oklahoma, I hope you're enjoying the thunder as much as I am <3

Smell and Remember!

I hope you all enjoyed that comical post from my dear friend, Nina, if you'd like to see more of her, go to her blog, Dreaming Nina, its linked on the side of my blog!  Unfortunately, I'm back now, so get out your dictionaries because you're in for a ride with my sesquipedalian ways.

Lately I have noticed with a sharper frequency that certain fragrances transport me to various memories of my past.  I know that scents have a direct correlation with one's own memories but as of late, I have noticed more and more certain smells that cause me to reminisce about times past.

For example, every time I wash my hands on campus, (which is all the time) the smell of that generic, industrial supply soap, reminds me of my days as a camp counselor, when that soap could be the only source of hygiene I experienced in a day.  I think it is interesting that at camp, this is completely normal, missing a shower here and there, getting into a mud fight, all such activities of messy debauchery with minimal care or social pressure to clean up.  I remember one time I was a counselor at camp, my friend and I took a bunch of campers on a four day canoe trip where we had absolutely no access to pummeling and on my first day back, not only did I look like a disaster, but when I tried to brush my hair, a simple form of grooming, the brush was stuck in my ratty hair, it was like a scene from the princess diaries!

Just the other day, I went to Target for some groceries, however, as usual, that is not the only thing I went home with, I blame the fact that I was there alone.  But never the less, I decided I needed some new candles so I went to the appropriate aisle and began opening and smelly each and every one to pick my favorites.  Then.  There was a candle called "Silver Birch" I slowly opened the lid, bent my nose to a closer proximity and my head immediately filled with the musky scent of one of my best friends, Patrick.  I literally almost bought the candle based solely on this fact!  While smelling the candle I thought about Patrick, I also thought about the fact that I have been a horrible friend to him lately, as I am not the greatest at long distance friendships, so I called him, we talked for a long long time and it was lovely.  I can't help but feel guilty though, because I doubt I would have called him, had I not smelled him (Cause that doesn't sound weird)

As embarrassed as I am to say this, currently, those are the only two instances that I can think of, so this, my dear friends is where I take my leave, please do not expect any posts from me for the next week, I am losing all of my wisdom tomorrow :( very very sad, I know.
As always lovelies, I hope your lives are going well!!!

Hijacked post!

So I am not the usual loquacious Miss Benear, I am her sneaky side kick Bee!

Muhahahaha!!!!

I am sitting here listening to Kate clean up her kitchen after making a delicious meal THAT I CAN'T EAT! Well actually I could, but I already ate!

So what shall I say in the hijacked blog post? First I would like to point out that Miss Benear is probably one of the coolest people I know! She is amazingly loyal and I'm glad everyday she's in my life! Well most days.... hahaha. For any of you that don't know her, she is quite literally great at being a friend. Can someone actually be great at being a friend? Well Kate definitely can! I look forward to this future weekend when she will be high on pain killers and I can sit there and laugh and she won't take offense! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

I don't really know what else to say, so I will tell you about my dream last night!

I had a dream that I was born with an ability to talk to animals so all my friends were animals. My two besties were a hippo and a grizzly bear! Anyone want to interpret that for me? I think it's purely funny!!

Once again, I love Kate and I hoped you enjoyed this hijacked blogpost!

Excited

Hello blog beauties!

As some of you know, I am finally putting together my first, very large scene shoot!  This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, I have been planning and thinking the logistics through for quite some time and I am finally ready to get underway with the production!  My intensions are to have a shoot that I am calling "Alice in my land"  the basic idea is to take the innocence of Alice from "Alice in Wonderland" and transform the antagonists into what I think they would be like in modern times.
I don't want to give anything away, and I also haven't finished casting or constructing my actual idea but, I'm excited because I'm picking up speed on the project with the intention of putting it together in the next few months.  This is the first really big production I have been in charge of and I couldn't be more excited!
In other news, my foot is currently in some disrepair state between being fractured and broken.  Which basically means I get to look like a weird crippled person for the next two months.  How did it happen? No one knows.....which is quite possibly the most frustrating thing in the world.
I have decided to abstain from any and all organic chem classes that come my way.  It just isn't my cup of tea, to me, science is cold and impersonal.  I throughly enjoy what I have chosen to do with my life.
Well I hope you are all having a lovely time this week and have a wonderful day!

Im In OChem?!

Hi all,
Today I write to you from the belly of the O chem II lecture hall.  A lot of you may be asking yourselves what I'm doing in here, don't worry my lovelies, I'm wondering the same thing.  Somehow, I got dragged into coming to a lecture to see if "I wanted to be a doctor" well, the lecture has yet to come to a close and I can tell you with great confidence, that I do not.
Today is my first day with the power to use google after a week long, torturous dry spell, if you will and interestingly enough, I haven't googled anything yet.  I know, I'm just as shocked, confused and disinterested as you are.  Who cares Kate? Probably no one.  I just thought in the efforts of being completely honest with my online forum, I'd would let you know, take it as you will dear friends.
I just looked up from my screen to the domineering computer screen in front of me, I am very curious as to whether I am the only one in this lecture hall that has no idea whats going on, surely not, there are so many people here, surely at least one other person finds themselves in here by chance, surely theres another scared and confused Lit major in the room.
Rambling.  I do this when I'm nervous, I'm nervous because I'm at a disadvantage scholastically when comparing myself to these science people.  Ok friends, I'm at a loss for words, the professor's scientific babble is too hypnotic, I think now I shall learn about some Ions.
As always what ever you endeavor to do, do it well, whether you're in bed, in the library, or trapped in an O Chem class,
Until next time.

Oh yes friends, its back!

End to the Madness

Hi everyone,
I greet you with a faint heart on this, the eve of the end to the madness.  I am half the person I used to be.  I feel debased without my search engines, as Im sure Nina would agree about her cleavage. I am a void.
Ok fair enough, that is slightly dramatic but when you're forced to give up your greatest vice, cold turkey or "suffer the consequences" well lets just say its not something I would wish on anyone.  As stated in my previous blog, the act of writing down everything I want to google has shown me that I am an extremely strange person.  But is there anything wrong with that?  I think not.  What some (Nina) may call an annoying need to be right (which is true), I call curiosity, so I want to know the answers to all of the questions life throws at me, is that so bad?  You'd be surprised at just how many times a day the average person uses google, had I the ability (still not cracking), I would absolutely and unashamedly  be the first one to spout that statistic off to you.
Looking back, I wonder if everyone in the world would be able to see their worst habit or offense and makes efforts for one week to change it.  Would they do it?  What exactly would happen?  Personally, I think most people have stronger vices than Nina and I.
And for myself and Nina, I believe that if these are the two things that hinder us from being who we truly are, odds are, we're pretty great.  And I speak from experience, Nina is awesome :)
Its 4 pm on Sunday, just a few hours from our goal and I can hardly contain my excitement.  In the last day alone, my list of google-able items has doubled.  It is a relief that I welcome with both arms open.
I think we can all learn a lot from abstaining from that one thing that we can't get enough of, be it sex, drugs, alcohol, a search engine fancy, or an enjoyment of ones cleavage, it never hurts to take a break, I think this time of reflection has actually made me fall into a deeper love with google and all its best friends (yahoo, askgeeves, wikipedia, etc)

Whatever you endeavor to do in life, I hope you do it well, as always have a wonderful day!

Lets the Games Begin

For those of you who are not currently aware, allow me to enlighten you, Dreaming Nina and I are best friends.  Shocking, I know.
Because of our friendship, we have come to a stage of over-familiarity.  We know how to push each others buttons and fervently do so on a daily basis.  Because of this, we throughly enjoy to "torture" each other.
As of late, we have entered into a double sided bet, highlighting our biggest weaknesses.
For the next week, I am absolutely banned from using any web search engine of any kind, this is to prey on my absolute obsession with always being right.
Its day three now and I'm slowly beginning to fall apart, there are so
many things I would like to know and so many things I would like to
ask my old friend google, and yet, I cannot.
In order to stave off my personal Achilles, I have
been forced to write down every question I have
for google.  It has allowed me to reflect on just
how strange I truly am.
An excerpt:
Can you sprain your toe?
Learn more about the Amish
Are there poisonous bugs in Oklahoma?
When does Vampire Diaries come back on?
Just a few from a long winded and ever growing list, I assure you
holding out will be the hardest thing to date.
The reason I have to hold out is, with every bet you make, there is an ultimate consequence, and in this case, its quite strange, to say the least.  The loser, who gives in will have to participate in what we like to call, "Awkward Elevator Games"  for a full list, please google it, I can't remember them all and I also can't look them up to find out what they are but needless to say, they are embarrassing.  What makes it more interesting however is that if we both win, we both have to do the games!  (I never said this made any sense at all)
So if you're reading this, odds are you're curious to know what Nina's side of the bet is, well let me tell you, its a good one.  For those of you who know Nina, its even more enjoyable, she has to go a week without showing cleavage.  None at all.  For a whole week.  She has been dutiful in her sending me a picture of her crew neck tee every morning, and I don't know why but I think it is the funniest thing in the world.
If anything of interest should arise from this wager, you'll be the first to know, I hope you are succeeding in all that you aim for this week and make it a good one, as always have a wonderful day, a wonderful week, and please, send me random google facts so I can get my fix <3
